Burke and Hare Co. is a gothic fragrance house in need of a more streamlined labeling system and a more personal, elevated approach to packaging. The name references Burke and Hare, a notorious pair of inner-city murderers in 1828. As a nod to that history, I based the labels on Victorian medicinal bottles and incorporated a subtle dagger into the flourishes to quietly underline the logotype.
The original brand sits between feminine and androgynous, which made for an interesting challenge, especially in a category where darker fragrances are often marketed strictly to men. I was intentional about ensuring the flourishes and type selections felt delicate and refined to balance the deep, moody color palette.
The logotype is entirely hand-drawn, and all packaging was designed and modeled in Cinema 4D.
